The Federal University Oye-Ekiti Students Representative Council (FUOYE SRC) has set up an investigative panel to investigate the alleged misappropriation of N3.7 million.

Recall that, UCJ FUOYE earlier reported how the fund for over 10,000 students was allegedly embezzled by the the former acting FUOYESU President, Adekola Francis (FADA) and the current Senate President, Adebisi Segun (SOLUTION).

On the 13th of April, according to the current Treasurer of the FUOYE Students’ Union Government, Faweya Oluwaseun, ” there was a proposed nose mask project of N2.5million of which we ascertain that the money was disbursed alongside other expenses which accumulated to the sum N3,732,000 and was disbursed on the 29th of January, 2021. It is also confirmed that the sum of N3,700,000 was withdrawn from the union’s account on the 29th of January, 2021″.

This money was withdrawn one day to the election of the new Students’ Union government and thirty days to the inauguration of the newly elected SUG.

In reaction to the scandal, the current FUOYESU Executives sent a letter to the SRC to set up an investigative panel in a bid to ensure transparency and openness in the running of the union.

The Presiding Senate President, Senator Mayowa from the Faculty of Agriculture asked the house to nominate one person per faculty to join the Investigative panel.

According to her, the Investigative panel will be saddled with the responsibility of Investigating the N3.7 million scandal and also the acting administration of former FUOYESU President, Anifowose Temitope aka Slimz.

The nominated Senators in the panel are Olasunmbo Olaniyan (Faculty of Agriculture), Ogunleye Sukanmi (Faculty of Arts), Ajibare Babatunde( Faculty of Engineering), Azeez Elijah (Faculty of Education), Alabi Opeyemi (Faculty of Management), Ojo Oluwakemi (Faculty of Science), Odebiyi Shamsudeen (Faculty of Social Sciences) and Rotimi Timilehin (Faculty of law) and Samuel Ajala; UCJ FUOYE representative.

However, It was raised by Senator Okikiola representing the Political Science Constituency that UCJ FUOYE should have a representative in the panel. The House members supported the motion because of the neutrality of the body.

The Presiding Senate President ordered the investigative panel to report on their progress within the next 72 hours.
